Biography
Contrass, the dynamic shatta dancehall sensation, calls the Netherlands his home, but his electrifying music knows no borders. With a pulsating sound that’s set to ignite dance floors and a persona that radiates charisma, Contrass is on a mission to create irresistible party vibes that compel audiences to throw up two fingers and shout, “pow pow pow!”
Born into a musical family, Contrass initially pursued dancehall as a hobby, but destiny had grander plans in store. The turning point came when he performed a captivating cover of Buju Banton’s ‘Driver’ for a seasoned industry professional who recognized his boundless potential. That momentous encounter fueled his determination to take his craft seriously.
His dedication and evolution led him to the heart of reggae and dancehall culture, Kingston, Jamaica, in 2019, where he dazzled the crowd at the Red Carpet Adventure Festival. During his stay, he had the extraordinary privilege of visiting his reggae and dancehall idols, including the legendary Sizzla in Judgement Yard and observing a studio session with the esteemed Dane Ray.
Following his graduation in 2020, Contrass embarked on a journey of sound exploration, brand development, and live show enhancement. Collaborations with renowned names such as Team Rush Hour, known for their chart-topping hits in the Netherlands, and Mucky, the mastermind behind ‘Boasty’ by Sean Paul, Stefflon Don, and Idris Elba, ignited a creative fire within him.
With guidance from branding guru Melanie Esther, who has also worked with artists like Blanks, Contrass experienced exponential growth on his social media platforms. His live performances reached new heights under the expert direction of Mr. JetFly, a leading creative mind in the Dutch urban scene, renowned for his work with R&B sensation Rimon.
The culmination of these efforts resulted in a near-sold-out hometown show in Groningen in 2023, marking a significant milestone in Contrass’s career. Shortly thereafter, in the same year, he proudly inked a deal with BMG Publishing, solidifying his status as a rising star in the music industry.
As of today, Contrass stands poised to unveil a treasure trove of new material to the world. His meticulously crafted plan encompasses both music releases and live performances, promising an exhilarating journey for fans and newcomers alike. Contrass is more than an artist; he’s a force of nature, and his music is the soundtrack to unforgettable nights of dancehall ecstasy.
